A study by Housing & Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), a government agency and consultant with the Noida authority for waste disposal, stated that a person generates 500 grams of waste per day while a family of five generates 2.5kg of waste a day. According to the study, Noida’s 14 lakh population generates nearly 660 tons of waste daily. So, looking for problem, we planned to join hand in hands with citizens of Noida by celebrating Noida day under #CLEANNOIDA as a campaign wherein HCL Foundation is making an effort to clean and beautify the Garbage Vulnerable Points and beautify them. On that day we cleaned 134 minor garbage heap points and cleared 19 major garbage spots, collected approximately 27tons of waste and beautified following areas by making rangoli just to highlight and make people aware that GVPs are not dump areas, they are land with use, they are the land to be used for good. We placed a pledge board outside the office premises where our team and all the passing by citizens took a pledge to keep our surroundings clean by not littering the waste around and also by stopping others for the same. It’s a step to induce behavioural change in people to release how clean their city and surroundings can be and bring a waste management into the system.
